One of the leading lights in Maryland wine is Crow Vineyards, a little gem of an operation located in the northern Eastern Shore. Right out of the gate Crow established themselves as a maker of first rate rosé, a distinction they still carry. They have since come on strong as deft masters of the Italian red varietal Barbera, and the versatile white Vidal Blanc. Crow somehow always seem to hire first rate talent to manage their vineyards and wine cellar, and it shows in the bottle.
My wife and I always enjoy visiting Crow Farm. Roy Crow and his wife Judy produce what we think to be the best wine in the DE/South Eastern PA/South Jersey/MD area. Barbera, red blends, and Chardonnay are top notch. We stopped in on Mother's Day with another couple who had never been there (or to many wineries for that matter) and was happy to show them to a great experience....Judy was working. I guess you never stop working when you run a winery. Our group appreciated the snacks for the kids, sloppy joes and great wine. Forgot to bring my crow call. Next time!!
Spent a relaxing weekend here before Christmas 2018. The owners were absolutely lovely and charming hosts, both at the B&B and adjacent wine tasting room. Recommend trying both flights of wine since they're all quite delicious. Also, don't skip the freshly prepared dish/es of the day-- The night we were there it was sloppy Joe's and hearty beef stew. Perfect for a chilly night! It was exactly what we needed to escape the hectic holiday season. We are looking forward to returning when the weather is warm and we can enjoy the outdoor seating, overlooking the Vineyard.
Best winery we've been to in Maryland! Every wine tastes was from good to great! Their Sparkling Vidal Blanc was worth the trip by itself!
In addition to the great wine, they sell fresh beef. We have already had the top roast and it was very good.
I recommend Crow Farm highly!
I was there for labor day week end. We slept there two night and we had a blast. The room we reserved was facing the vineyard and was real spacious and beautiful. The bed was big king size, the furniture charming. The farmers are always there for you checking you are ok and served for all your needs. Judy is an outstanding chef , she can cook amazing farm breakfasts and after our request, she was able to arrange a 4 courses dinner with their farm steaks (super lean and juicy...yummy!) and their vegetables grow in the farm. As dessert we had a rose' cherry chocolate ice cream with homemade brownie! The wine is superb. I'm from Italy and I was surprises to see they are making an unbelievable Barbera, better than one they make in Lombardy, Milan where I'm from. The red is my favorite, they are famous for their Barbera rose' that is very good. I also found a good Cab Franc mixed with Merlot. Because the low level of alcohol, 12,5%, those wine are like the European wines high acidity and their pairing with the food that are offered in the tasting room. I suggested to order a cheese, farm beef tray to really enjoy the wine and have the perfect experience. The farmhouse had also a large pool and the view of cows, grapes, ponies and farm animals make the place an outstanding getaway.
